A season consisting of 6 rounds (including the F1 Grand Prix of Canada), with a total of 12 rounds held in Ontario and Quebec
Nissan Canada and the Nissan Sentra Cup organisers today unveiled the racing schedule for 2022, consisting of six races of two races each weekend. Two race weekends will be held in Ontario and four in Quebec, including round 2 of the prestigious Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
The Nissan Sentra Cup made its debut last year on Canadian road circuits with no fewer than 36 entrants, which immediately brought the cup success among drivers and fans. “I’m thrilled that after just one season on Canadian circuits, the Nissan Sentra Cup gained such popularity last year,” said Steve Milette, President of Nissan Canada. “The 2022 season promises to be even more exciting with a great schedule for our drivers and their teams, as well as fans of the series and our brand,” he added.
The season kicks off in Ontario from May 20-22 at the famous Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. This fast and challenging track, which hosted eight Canadian Grand Prix races in the 60s and 70s, will host the first two races of the 2022 Nissan Sentra Cup as part of the Victoria Day Weekend SpeedFest.
Four weeks later, series participants will take part in the country’s biggest annual sporting event, the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix. Nissan Sentra Cup drivers will take part in two races at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal. The first race will take place on Saturday 18 June and the second on Sunday 19 June, shortly before the start of the F1 race. Free practice and qualifying will take place on Friday 17 June.
As the prestigious event could not be held in 2020 and 2021 due to government restrictions due to the pandemic, its return to the calendar for 2022 is eagerly awaited by all and organisers are expecting a full house in June.
The third round of the season will be held at the Mont-Tremblant circuit as part of the Summer Classic from July 22-24. The Sentra Cup will be part of the traditional Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières two weeks later on August 5 and 6. The Nissan Sentra Cup is undoubtedly one of the most popular races of the event.
The Nissan Sentra Cup will return to Ontario at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Labour Day weekend, September 2-4. This event is always a welcome addition to any racing fan’s schedule as it takes place during the long holiday weekend.
The 2022 season will conclude with the Fall Classic race at the Mont-Tremblant circuit from September 23-25. Last year’s final event decided the overall title as well as the Rookie of the Year and Micra titles. exciting racing.
